Metronet is a former private company that was responsible for the maintenance, replacement and renewal of the technical infrastructure on nine lines of the London Underground . This included rails, trains, signals, utility lines and stations.

Since January 2003, London Underground has been partially privatized in the form of a Public Private Partnership (PPP). The infrastructure was maintained by private companies, while the Underground remains owned by Transport for London (TfL). As part of a tender, Metronet has been awarded a 30-year contract for the Bakerloo Line , Central Line , Circle Line , District Line , East London Line , Hammersmith & City Line , Metropolitan Line , Victoria Line and Waterloo & City Line . Five companies were involved in Metronet: Atkins , Balfour Beatty , Bombardier , Électricité de France and Thames Water (a former subsidiary of RWE ).

In 2007 Metronet went bankrupt. The consortium is said to have been in financial difficulties since November 2006, after it awarded contracts to its own members at excessive prices. Attempts to get more money from the state than originally agreed failed. Metronet's activities have been fully reintegrated into TfL; the company and the logo no longer exist after the liquidation.
