Metroon (Athens)
The Metroon (Gr. Τὸ Μητρῷον) is the sanctuary of the Greek mother goddess, the meter Theon (Μήτηρ Θεῶν) on the Agora of Athens .
He was in the 2nd half of the 2nd century BC. And served as a sanctuary and state archive at the same time. Today only a few building remains are preserved. Under the now visible building are the remains of the older Metroon, the 480/79 BC. Was destroyed.
