The Metropolis Software House was a computer game developer based in Warsaw , Poland . The developer was taken over by the Polish publisher CD Projekt in 2008 and dissolved in 2009.
history
The development studio was founded in 1992. Metropolis developed its games with a view to international sales, mostly in cooperation with Interplay , Ubisoft , Jowood or Monolith Productions .
In 1996/97 the studio began work on an action adventure based on the Wiedźmin book series by the Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski , for which the studio was able to secure the author's license. At the same time, the fifteen-strong team also worked on the shoot 'em up Katharsis (which appeared in Germany under the name Blaster! ), The role-playing game Gorky 17 and the beat' em up Human Blood . Despite a publishing contract with Topware Interactive , the work increasingly faded into the background. Instead, the Polish publisher CD Projekt published the self-developed computer role-playing game The Witcher in 2007 on the basis of the same license.
In 2008, Metropolis Software was acquired by CD Projekt. In 2009 the new owner closed the studio and work on the shooter project They , which was last under development , was discontinued.
