Mette Ramsgard Thomsen

Mette Ramsgard Thomsen (* 1969 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish architect . She is Professor of Architecture and Digital Technologies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and heads the Institute CITA - Center for Information Technology and Architecture. Her research focuses on the interface between architecture and computer science .

Life

Mette Ramsgard Thomsen studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, the École d'Architecture Paris la Seine and the University College London (UCL). She received her PhD from the Bartlett School of Architecture and the Department of Computer Science (UCL). Her 2004 doctoral thesis published "Discovering Mixed Realities - inventing design criteria for action on based mixed reality y " was created by Peter Cook looked after and Mel Slater. From 2003 to 2008 she was the director of the "Escape Design" studio. In 2005 she founded the research group " Center for IT and Architecture " (CITA / KADK). She taught at the University of Brighton and UCL, among others, and worked for the Fraunhofer Institute. Since 2010 she has been a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 2016 she was the first female architect to win the EliteForsk Prize for her basic research in digital design and material production. The prize is awarded annually by the Danish government and honors outstanding Danish researchers.
