In Mexico common vihuela is a stringed instrument with five strings, which mainly by Mariachi used groups. In shape, it resembles a scaled-down guitarrón and has the same bulbous curve on the back. The tuning corresponds to that of the guitar ; ADGHE, however the 4th and 5th strings are tuned an octave higher.
