Michael F. Jacobson

Michael F. Jacobson (* 1943 ) is an American nutritionist and health activist. In 1971 he co-founded the Center for Science in the Public Interest in Washington, DC , which is committed to healthy eating and consumer protection.

For many years he fought in a leading position for consistent, legible and really informative food labeling and clear warnings and coined the terms " junk food " and "empty calories" that are widely used today . He also wrote a large number of nutrition science books.
