Michael Keating (politician)

Michael Keating (born September 29, 1946 ) is an Irish politician and sat from 1977 to 1989 in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .

Keating was elected to the 21st Dáil Éireann in 1977 for the Fine Gael . In total, he was re-elected three times for the Fine Gael. During the 22nd Dáil Éireann, Keating was Minister of State in the Ministry of Education from June 30, 1981 to March 1982 . In 1986 he joined the newly formed Progressive Democrats and was elected for them in the following elections. In 1989 he decided not to run again.

Keating held from June 1983 to July 1984 the Office of the Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin ).
