Migration (chemistry)

Under migration ( lat. Migratio = migration 'or' move ') is in the field of chemistry walking (migrate) of low molecular weight substances, such as plasticizers , to the surface of plastics (eg. B. films ) or referred to in surrounding materials. This is particularly relevant from a toxicological point of view. B. in food packaging, pharmaceuticals and toys, but also consumer goods such as textiles.

Limit values

The specific migration limit (SML) specifies how much of an ingredient in food packaging may migrate into the food that is packaged with it.
