Military candidate was a term for former soldiers in the German Empire who were eligible for high civil service (mostly civil service ).

Military candidates were non-commissioned officers who had served a certain period or were no longer fit for military service.

These were then used primarily as civil servants, e.g. B. at the post office and railroad etc. continued.

The term was still used in the Weimar Republic .

Most of the military candidates were organized in the Association of German Military Candidates founded in 1904 ; in Bavaria there was the Association of Bavarian Military Candidates .
