Kuweyres military airfield

The Syrian military airfield Kuweyres is a military facility of the Syrian armed forces on an area of ​​around 15 km 2 . It is located about 50 kilometers east of Aleppo .

history

The base was besieged by Islamic State militias . In August 2015, an attempt by soldiers of the Syrian army to break out failed with heavy losses. The siege was only broken by the army in November 2015.

According to Brigadier General Munzer Zaman, Kuweyres Commander in July 2016, around 800 were killed by 1,100 defenders during the entire siege.
