Milk Tray

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Milky Tray ( own notation : MilkTray ) is a brand of chocolate boxes, currently of Cadbury are made. Introduced by Cadbury UK in 1915, it is one of the longest running brands in the pastry chef portfolio. Milk Tray products are sold in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, New York City, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

The name "Tray" is derived from the way in which the original range was delivered to the stores. Originally, the milk tray was packaged in five and a half pound crates arranged on trays from which it was sold in bulk to customers.

The pack design has been updated regularly and the range itself has been changed according to customer preferences. Today it is still one of the UK's most popular chocolate candy brands, with over 8 million boxes sold annually.

history

In 1916, a half-pound deep box with a purple background and gold scenario was introduced that has seen minor changes for ninety years. In 1924 a 1 pound box was introduced. In the mid-1930s, the Cadbury's Milk Tray range was selling better than any of its competitors.
