The Miller 500 is a former NASCAR Busch Series car race at Martinsville Speedway , which was held from 1982 to 1994. It was traditionally the spring race on the racetrack, which was held towards the end of March or beginning of April. Only in the 1993 season it was held at the beginning of May.

history

The first race was held on March 28, 1982 as Dogwood 500 over a distance of 250 laps, which corresponded to a total distance of around 211 km. The first winner was Sam Ard , who also won the Miller Time 250 the following season . The race distance of 250 laps was retained as in the 1984 season when Jack Ingram won the race. In the 1985 season, the race distance was shortened to 200 laps or around 169 km. Brett Bodine won the race renamed Miller 200 . Although the distance remained the same from the 1986 season, the race was renamed the Miller 500 . In 1986 and 1987 Morgan Shepherd and Brad Teague signed the list of winners before Jimmy Hensley won the Miller Classic in 1988 . In the following seasons, the winners were Tommy Ellis , Tommy Houston and Jimmy Hensley. In the 1992 season the name was changed back to Miller 500 and Kenny Wallace won the race. In the last two seasons in which it was held, the race distance was 300 laps or around 254 km. In 1993 Ward Burton won and in 1994 Terry Labonte was the final winner of the race.
