history

Mindfactory market in Wilhelmshaven

Mindfactory AG was originally founded in 1996 as Mindfactory Hardware- und Softwarevertriebs GmbH. Starting with a simple shop in Wilhelmshaven, Mindfactory continuously expanded the business premises and the number of employees from 1997 to 1999. In 2000 the company was renamed from a GmbH to a stock corporation. The Mindfactory Community Forum was founded the following year. In order to be able to process the steadily increasing order volume, the storage area in the main building was expanded in 2002. A sales increase of 50% could be achieved. In 2003 a second warehouse was put into operation to ensure faster logistical processing. With the completion of the second building for administrative areas in 2004, Mindfactory had grown to over 16,000 m² of commercial space, so that in 2005 sales was expanded and divided into different sales branches. Mindfactory.de was certified as a certified online shop by Euro-Label in 2006. In 2007 Mindfactory AG switched to the xt: Commerce shop system . A separate weblog , the so-called MindBlog, was launched in 2008. On March 14, 2017, the new shop layout was published, which is adapted for mobile devices.

Company links

Mindfactory AG operates with a different price system as Mindfactory-City . Mindfactory AG also works closely with the companies VibuOnline (which is a 100% subsidiary), DriveCity and Compuland as well as the Compuland offshoot Compuland-City , some of which have different company addresses and management, but their online offers have the same shop structure and use the same ordering platform. The youth protection and data protection officer is also identical at all companies. The partner companies set different focus areas (storage, hard drives, video cards). The price systems show strong similarities with deviations of often one cent per item, as well as the elimination of shipping costs when shopping at a certain time of the day.

Data theft

In April 2011, it became known that an intruder had gained access to the shop system at the beginning of the year via a management account and stole customer data. There are tens of thousands of data records that contain not only the first and last name but also the address of the customer as well as their email address and telephone number. The company did not actively inform customers about the data theft.
