Minimum object distance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The minimum object distance (MOD) is a term from photography . It denotes the shortest distance between the foremost lens and the subject that can still be brought into focus with the focus ring (set to “near”).

To reduce the MOD, the distance between the lens and the CCD sensor can be increased with intermediate rings (or extension tubes ) . The maximum object distance is reduced more quickly than the minimum object distance, so that if the distance is lengthened, it is no longer possible to focus using the focus ring .
