Minute field

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Minute field is a term used in data acquisition in biology (e.g. grid mapping ). There are several types of definition.

Minute field as angular minute

A minute field is an area that contains exactly one geographical angular minute of a longitude and latitude. The area is therefore exactly between four geographical points. In reality, the type of map used or the geodetic reference system (mostly WGS 84 today) defines the exact location. The size (width times height) is variable as the width decreases to the north and the height increases (in the northern hemisphere).

The minute field is usually further subdivided, e.g. B. in four quadrants or six sextants .

Minute field as sixtieth of a card

A minute field is also defined as one sixtieth of a card, e.g. B. 1: 25,000 table sheet (TK25 in Germany)
