Misr El-Makasa Sporting Club ( Arabic نادي مصر للمقاصة الرياضي, DMG Nādī Miṣr li-l-Muqāṣṣa ar-riyāḍī ), also known as El-Makasa , is an Egyptian sports club based in al-Fayyūm , Egypt . The club is best known for its professional soccer team, which currently plays in the Egyptian Premier League .
history
The association was founded in 1937. Misr El-Makasa was formerly known as the Hweidi Club. For a short time, however, it became known as El Fara'na (aka The Pharaohs). Eventually the club got its current name when it got a new main sponsor. After a few attempts, the club rose from the second division in the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in 2009/10. The rise could be achieved with a 2-0 win against Wadi El Gedid FC on the home field. The club finished second in the 2016/17 Egyptian Premier League season , qualifying for the CAF Champions League for the first time . In the CAF Champions League 2018 , however, it was eliminated in the first round against Génération Foot from Senegal .
