Miss Scarlet and The Duke is a British crime series produced by A + E Network International in Dublin since 2019. The series was created based on an idea by screenwriter Rachael New . English actress Kate Phillips and Scottish actor Stuart Martin can be seenin the title roles. The series has been on the UK's Alibi Channel since March 31, 2020. In Germany, the broadcaster RTL has securedthe rights to the broadcast.

The series is set in 19th century London at a time when women had little to no rights and marriage was the only way for a woman to gain financial security. The young Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips) is therefore faced with a difficult decision when her father suddenly dies, leaving her with a mountain of unpaid bills. Contrary to the advice from her environment, Eliza decides to ignore social norms and without further ado takes over her father's detective agency. However, without male help she cannot assert herself in the patriarchal world of the Victorian era and so she finds support from three men. Known as "Duke" by everyone, Scotland Yard Detective Inspector William Wellington (Stuart Martin) is a longtime family friend and a ladies' man with a certain raw charm. Jamaica-born Moses ( Ansu Kabia ) came to London in the hope of a better life, but ended up in shady circles. The wealthy Rupert Parker ( Andrew Gower ) is forced by his mother to hold Eliza's hand, but is extremely relieved when she rejects his request. Because he's secretly homosexual, which makes him an outsider like Eliza. The two develop a friendship and Rupert decides to finance Eliza's detective agency.

The six episodes of the first season were filmed in and around Dublin in the summer of 2019 based on the scripts by Rachael New and directed by Declan O'Dwyer. Production of the 2nd season is planned for September 2020.
