Conquered the Tigerberg with tactical skill

Conquering the Tiger Mountain with Tactical Skill ( Chinese  智取威虎山 , Pinyin Zhìqǔ wēi hǔshān ) is a revolutionary Peking opera from the time of the Chinese Cultural Revolution .

The opera was one of the eight model flops tolerated under Mao Zedong's wife Jiang Qing during the Cultural Revolution .

background

The plot is based on the novel Lin Hai Xue Yuan ( Chinese  林海雪原 , Pinyin Lín hǎi xuě yuán ), which goes back to an incident in 1946 during the Chinese Civil War when the communist reconnaissance soldier Yang Zirong, a group of "bandits" ( Kuomintang ) and thus helped the communist soldiers to victory.

Adaptation

In 1970 director Xie Tieli made a film with the same title.
