Communication problem

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to the communication problem , a prerequisite for the scientific nature of a thought structure is that these thoughts can be communicated so that an open discussion can take place. Science does not exist when someone only has private thoughts, or when these thoughts are too confused or diffuse to be communicated to others. So the communication problem emphasizes the intersubjectivity of science.

The communication problem was an important motivation for the establishment of the research program of logical empiricism . It was also an important reason for the rejection of metaphysics by the logical empiricists, because metaphysics failed because of the problem of communication because of the lack of communicability of metaphysical concepts.

Historically, the communication problem goes back to the Greek sophists and skeptics .
