Mixtekisch (tu'un savi, tuʔũ savi) is an indigenous language in Mexico or a group of closely related to each other languages, spoken by the ethnic group of the Mixtecs . Together with the languages Cuicateco, Triqui and Amuzgo it belongs to a branch of the eastern Otomangue languages, which in turn belong to the family of Otomangue languages (together with Otomí, Chinantek, Popoloca, Tlapanek and Zapotec).
Mixtec is spoken by around 450,000 people, particularly in the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero . Due to the geographical fragmentation of the language area, there are widely differing regional variants. SIL International divides Mixtec into more than 30 individual languages. The National Institute for Indigenous Languages (Instituto Nacional de Lenguas Indígenas, INALI) speaks of 81 regional variants.
