Mobile IP registration procedure
To register a mobile device in a foreign network , a Mobile IP registration procedure must be carried out.
she allows
- the registration of the mobile host with the foreign agent of the foreign network
- the registration with the home agent for forwarding the data packets
- the renewal of an expiring registration
- logging out of the foreign network
A Mobile IP registration message contains the following fields:
- Type (8 bit): type of registration message (type 1 = request; type 3 = response)
- Flags (8 bit): Codes to define details for forwarding IP packets
- Home address (32 bit): Primary address of the mobile host
- Home Agent (32 bit): IP address of the home agent
- Care-Of-Address (32 Bit): secondary address of the mobile host
- Identification (64 bit): ID generated by the mobile host to identify registration messages that belong together
- Extensions : contains e.g. B. Authentication of the mobile host
