The Mohammed Mosque in Baku is an Islamic house of worship that was built in 1078/79. The builder was Muhammed ibn Abubekr. The building, which also includes the Synyk-kala minaret , is the oldest structure of its kind in Azerbaijan .

The Synyk-kala minaret was built in the style of northern Azerbaijan, but kept simple. The brick building tapers towards the top and has only a few decorative elements on the bay window. The bay window, which is bordered by a stone railing formed from a six-pointed star, is supported by a hanging stalactite vault. Below this, a Koran claim in Kufic letters is drawn around the minaret.

The minaret bears little resemblance to the more richly decorated minarets that were built later and was probably also used as a watchtower until the 13th century.
