The Moltkedenkmal was a memorial in honor of the Prussian Field Marshal Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke in Breslau . It last stood on what was then Hardenbergstrasse (today: ulica Bernarda Pretficza ).

history

The monument was unveiled on October 26, 1899. It depicts the general in a standing posture with his left arm bent. Originally, the monument stood on the former Kaiser-Wilhelm-Strasse (today: ulica Powstańców Śląskich ). In the 1930s it was relocated to Hardenbergstrasse due to the construction of a new tram line. After the Second World War, the bronze figure was melted down.

The base of the monument still exists today. The inscription on the memorial ( Moltke 1800-1891 ) has been removed. A soldier sculpture now stands on the plinth next to the 24 Bernarda Pretficza building .
