Monologion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The monologion is a philosophical-theological work by Anselm of Canterbury .

Created in 1076, it deals with the demonstrability of God's existence . Anselm wants to prove the faith with necessary reasons (rationibus necessariis). As a student of Lanfranc, he mainly uses dialectics. The monologion is considered to be a demonstration of proofs of God from the Platonic-Augustinian tradition. It is essential to dispense with authoritarian argumentation structures and to use one's own reason to convince.
