Monosyllabicity

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One of only one syllable existing lexeme is mono syllabic lexeme. Monosyllabicity (Greek μονο- (mono-) 'one', συλλαβη (syllabe) 'syllable') is the hallmark of some languages. Some Sino-Tibetan languages consist mainly of monosyllabic lexemes and are therefore called monosyllabic languages.
