Helmut Glück (born July 23, 1949 in Stuttgart ) is a German linguist .

Life

Helmut Glück studied German , Nordic and Slavic studies in Tübingen and Bochum and worked at the universities of Osnabrück , Hanover , Oldenburg , Siegen and Cairo . From 1991 to 2015 he was Professor of German Linguistics and German as a Foreign Language at the University of Bamberg .

In his studies, Glück deals, among other things, with the German language as a foreign language and its history and language policy (e.g. the discussion about the scientific language German). He is the founding editor of the Metzler Lexikon Sprache , for which he wrote around 700 articles himself and which has now appeared in its fifth edition.
