Moonlight (aquaristic)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moonlights are effect lights used in aquaristics that are intended to simulate a weak, bluish-cold moonlight. They are implemented using blue LEDs or low-power cold cathode tubes . Special fluorescent tubes with narrow-band blue light are used for large aquariums.

The moonlight lighting enables nocturnal aquarium animals to be observed after the main lighting has been switched off. It is also increasingly used for aesthetic reasons and is said to have a positive influence on the night behavior of aquarium fish.
