Boguchwała [bɔguˈxfawa] is a city in Poland in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with around 20,000 inhabitants.

history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1373 . At that time the place was named Piotraszówka after the owners . In 1461 a wooden church was built. In 1561 the owners changed and the Ligęza family became the new owners . In 1624 part of the city, including the wooden church of St. Andrew, was burned down by the Tatars. In 1702 the area and with it Piotraszówka was occupied by Swedish troops under Magnus Stenbock in the Great Northern War . 1728 the place was August II. The town charter granted and the town received its present name Boguchwała . When Poland was first partitioned in 1772, the city became part of Austria and lost its town charter at the same time. After the First World War , Boguchwała became part of the re-established Poland . During the attack on Poland on September 6, 1939, the city was occupied by the Wehrmacht . After the end of the Second World War , Boguchwała became part of Poland again. The village became part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship until it was dissolved after an administrative reform and Boguchwała was incorporated into the Subcarpathian Voivodeship .

The place received city rights on January 1st, 2008.

State road 9 , which is also European route 371 , runs through Boguchwała . This leads from Rzeszów to Barwinek and from there to Slovakia . A total of around eight kilometers of the state road run in the area of ​​the urban-and-rural municipality. There are also about 59 kilometers of county road ( droga powiatowa ).

Boguchwała has its own train station on a non-electrified railway line (2008). There are direct connections to Jasło and Rzeszów, among others .

The nearest international airport is Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, which is about 15 kilometers north of Boguchwała.

education

In the city there is the Stanisław Maczek Primary School ( Szkoła Podstawowa im. Gen. St. Maczka ) and a middle school ( gimnazjum ).
