motivation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Motivation is a technical term from narrative theory .

Motivation at the level of the event

At the level of what happens in a narrative, a distinction is made between a “causal” and a “final” motivation.

In causal motivation, the cause-and-effect principle comes into play, ie a development or action has a clear cause.

Providence comes into play with the final motivation, that is, for example, that a meeting of certain figures has no causal cause, but appears to be meaningfully designed towards a goal.
