Winder
A winder is a motor that can be connected to a photographic camera to transport the film ("to wind").
In contrast to a motor or motor drive , a winder usually has a lower frame rate. Typically it is 2.5 fps or less.
When there were no motors built into cameras for film lifts, there were camera models with a housing that could be connected to such a motor. Usually the winder was attached under the housing with the help of the tripod thread . This made it possible to take series pictures with a higher frame rate.
Some SLR cameras still have a winder connection even today , although they already have a built-in motor for the film elevator. More powerful motors for higher image frequencies can be connected here.
