from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The motor truck factory Rudolf Hagen & Cie. GmbH was a vehicle manufacturer that only existed for a short time. Rudolf Hagen was born in Cologne on November 16, 1872, his father was the battery manufacturer Franz Josef Hagen . Rudolf Hagen built his first truck around 1895, and a little later he founded his company on Aachener Strasse in Cologne-Müngersdorf . With up to six employees, he built trucks and motor locomotives. The trucks had a single-cylinder engine that made a lot of noise. The cars were so loud that the Cologne police forbade them to drive into the city center.

From 1902 the company ran into economic difficulties, so that the patents, licenses and manufacturing facilities were sold to the electrical engineering company Helios in Cologne-Ehrenfeld in 1903 . Motor vehicle production under the name HELIOS Automobilbau AG Cologne ended in 1906.
