Marcus Ayrer
Marcus Ayrer (also Marx Ayrer ; * around 1455 , † after 1506 ) was a German printer .
Live and act
The father Heinrich Ayrer was a salt dealer in Nuremberg . Marx Ayrer had been enrolled at the University of Ingolstadt since 1477 , where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1480. Around 1483 he founded a small printing company in Nuremberg. In 1490 and 1491 he printed in Regensburg , 1492/93 in Bamberg , 1496/97 in Ingolstadt and 1498 in Erfurt . From 1502 to 1506 his writings appeared in Frankfurt / Oder , these were the oldest after Martun Tretter. After that there is no more news about his life.
In Nuremberg, Marx Ayrer mainly printed small German folk books, and later also Latin works of classics and religious writings.
