Mouvement Populaire de la Révolution

The Mouvement Populaire de la Révolution (MPR) is a nationalist party of the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

It was founded on April 17, 1967 under Joseph-Désiré Mobutu and declared a unified party of the state with a constitutional amendment in 1974. Their party program was officially capitalist and centrist. Even after the formation of a transitional government in 1990, combined with the approval of further parties, the MPR was the determining political force in the country until Mobuto's fall in 1997.
