Mowag W300
The Mowag W300 is a fire engine from Switzerland .
History and Development
Since 1955, Mowag in Kreuzlingen in the canton of Thurgau has also designed fire fighting vehicles that were often specifically adapted to Swiss needs. The W 200 (Feuerblitz), W 300 and W 500 models were widely used as on-call or fire fighting vehicles. The MOWAG W300 was manufactured by Mowag in 1968. Equipped with a Chrysler gasoline engine with added lead. The vehicle has all-wheel drive with off-road reduction without differential lock, a trailer hook for carrying various fire service trailers, as required. The tires consist of 6x 7.50 16.8 ply tires 6-fold (rear twin tires), each with a tire pressure of 5.0 bar. The braking system is based on vacuum-assisted oil brakes. The cabin and the mechanics came largely from the Dodge Power Wagon , the superstructures were individually made by Mowag according to the needs of the respective fire departments. As a powder fire extinguishing vehicle, the Mowag W 300 was equipped with 750 kg BC dust and four hand fire extinguishers for pipe operator safety on the bridge. Nitrogen (two pressure bottles) acted as propellant, as well as two rigid hoses, each 30 meters long, on the left and right as quick access. Some Mowag W300 are still available on auction platforms today. Various fire brigades in Switzerland still have such vehicles in their inventory as vintage vehicles for festivities and removals. A Mowag W300 of the Zug volunteer fire brigade in the configuration as a dust extinguisher is in the Zuger depot technology history .
