Mozilla Archive Format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mozilla Archive Format ( MAF ) is an archive for storing or archiving web pages in Firefox with the help of a Mozilla add-on. One or more web pages can be saved in a single file, including the embedded elements such as images, formulas and style sheets . Unlike MHTML , which uses MIME encoding to save pages as one file, MAF compresses all content in a ZIP file . Other archive formats are MHTML ( Internet Explorer and others), web archives ( Safari ) and Chromes SingleFile extension.

The extension is no longer supported in newer Firefox versions (from 57) like many of the other traditional extensions based on XUL. The author can no longer adapt the extensions due to a lack of API support. MAF will continue to be offered in Waterfox , a fork of Firefox that aims to preserve features that have been removed from Firefox. a. also the traditional extension interface.

MAF is an open file format whose specification has been published and which can be used freely. The items can be accessed using ZIP software.
