The Mpitolona ho an'ny Fandrosoan'i Madagasikara (abbreviated MFM , in German  Movement for the Progress of Madagascar ) is a political party in Madagascar . The party is chaired by Manandafy Rakotonirina .

history

The party was founded on December 27, 1972 as Mpitolona ho amin'ny Fanjakana ny Madinika (MFM - Party for the ). At the time, it was the left opposition to the military regime that took power that same year. The party remained in opposition during the Ratsiraka regime and was part of the movement that forced him to give up power in 1991. The party also supported Marc Ravalomanana against Ratsiraka in the 2001 presidential election and helped convince him not to accept the first official results but to declare himself the winner.

The party transformed into a progressive liberal party and changed its name. She is now a member of the Liberal International , which she joined at the 2006 Congress in Marrakech. Since the elections for the Malagasy National Assembly on September 23, 2007, it is no longer represented in parliament.
