The Mukurthi National Park (MNP, Tamil முக்கூர்த்தி தேசியப் பூங்கா ) is a 78.46 km² protected area in the western part of the Nilgiri Mountains west of the mountain town of Udagamandalam in the northwest of the state of Tamil Nadu in the Western Ghats in southern India . The park was created to protect its key species , the Nilgiri tahr .

The area of the present park was declared a game reserve in 1986 and a national park on December 12, 2001 (published in the Tamil Nadu State Gazette on January 9, 2002).

The park is characterized by grass and bush landscapes, which are criss-crossed by river banks and are located at an altitude. Climatically, the park is characterized by heavy rainfall, almost icy temperatures and strong winds. The park is home to a number of endangered wildlife, including the Bengal tiger and Asian elephant . However, the main mammal attraction is the Nilgiri Tahr. The park was previously known as the Nilgiri Tahr National Park.

The park is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve , India's first international biosphere reserve. As part of the Western Ghat UNESCO Heritage Site , it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 1, 2012 .
