The Mullerthal Trail is a system of three hiking trails in Luxembourgish Switzerland . The starting point is the Luxembourg city of Echternach .

Directions

The path consists of three routes, each with two stages and four extra tours:

Routes and stages
route route distance
Route 1, stage 1 Echternach - Moersdorf 18.7 km
Route 1, stage 2 Moersdorf - Echternach 20.4 km
Route 2, stage 1 Echternach - Mullerthal 24.8 km
Route 2, stage 2 Mullerthal - Echternach 12.5 km
Route 3, stage 1 Mullerthal - Larochette 18.0 km
Route 3, stage 2 Larochette - Mullerthal 20.3 km

The routes can either be hiked one after the other or in stages. There is no recommended order. If you only hike on individual stages, the starting points can be reached by car or bus.

The majority of the routes run in the forest, sometimes past rocks, the smaller part goes over the open field. Depending on the stage, there are numerous, in some cases steep, inclines to be overcome.

Route 2 from Echternach to Mullerthal and back is somewhat more difficult than the other two routes, but you will pass most of the sights.

The extra tours each consist of a circular hike, they are marked in nature with an orange M on a white background.

Practical advice

Wolfsschlucht near Echternach

A hiking map is not absolutely necessary as the path is very well signposted. Good footwear is an important requirement, especially for the rocky passages. It also doesn't hurt to take food with you, as the number of refreshments is limited. A flashlight is useful for the passages through the crevices.
