The multifunctional housings ( MFG ) are a new generation of active cable distributors . The structure - with EMC protection , flexible cabinet and mounting concepts, active air conditioning, as well as the possibility of building over old passive cable splitter outdoor housings - enables the use of active elements in the telecommunications network and thus meets the requirements for ever higher data transfer rates ( UMTS , DSL , WiMAX ) invoice.

The purpose of the MFG is to bring the active technology closer to the customer and thus to shorten the path of the data through the poorer copper network.

In this context, fiber optic cables are laid into the MFG, which are then transferred from the active technology in the MFG to the copper network and thus reach the end customer. As already mentioned, this conversion of the older "KVZ" means that the data path via the copper network is less because only the copper Vzk is used. Thus, larger bandwidths can be achieved.
