Mouth stop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A jaw or mouth lock was an instrument of torture in the Middle Ages . She had roughly the shape of a funnel or tube and served, for example when questioning the mouth to keep open the suspect. It is, in a sense, the opposite of a gag .

use

The mouth gag was used to prevent the suspect or accused from closing their mouth. Depending on how it was processed and how long it was worn, the mouth gag could cause severe swallowing and jaw pain . In addition, suspects often found wearing the gag during interrogation to be embarrassing because they were no longer able to speak properly. In addition, they could no longer control their salivation , which made the interrogated even more humiliating.
