Jaw spreader

A mouth spreader , actually a jaw spreader , is a medical device and is used to keep the mouth open during a medical examination (e.g. at the dentist ). It consists of two metal brackets with joints, plus a notch or a locking screw. Despite its martial appearance, it only prevents accidental biting by a patient who is actually cooperating, it is not suitable for opening a closed mouth despite resistance, and with appropriate resistance it can also be pushed out of the mouth.

The different types of mouth spreader differ only marginally in construction, the models are all named after their respective inventors:

Mouth spreader in BDSM

As a special form of the gag (keeps the mouth open, not closed, but prevents articulate speaking), the mouth spreader is now a very common sex toy in the BDSM field . Because many bottoms find it difficult to swallow with a spreader, they are prone to excessive salivary secretion , which adds a humiliating component.
