Muromer pig
The Muromer pig ( Russian Муромская , transcribed Muromskaja ) is a multi-purpose pig breed from Russia .
Breeding history
The breed originated near Murom in Vladimir Oblast by crossing indigenous sows with Lithuanian White Pig and Large White boars . The responsible breed leaders were AP Redkin and IA Sawitsch. In 1957 the breed was officially recognized.

There are 9 boar lines and 22 sow families.
Occurrence
The Muromer pig is mainly kept in Vladimir Oblast . The main breeding takes place in the Objedinenje state breeding farm. In 1980 the breed numbered 12,000 purebred animals.
