Murti

Murti ( Sanskrit मूर्ति IAST mūrti f.) Means form, shape, figure, image or embodiment. In Hinduism, Murti refers to a consecrated statue that is viewed as the visible embodiment of a deity, an aspect of God or a guru . Traditionally, the murti is consecrated in a special ceremony ( IAST mūrti stāpana) in order to fill the figure with the spirit of the god it represents according to the imagination of the believers.

The word Murti can be found in the Hindu concept of Trimurti ("three forms") or in the family name Krishnamurti .
