The Bassermannhaus Museum for Music and Art is a Mannheim museum that is part of the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums . On 1350 m² (two floors) objects related to music, art and cultures of the world are shown.

The foundation stone for the new museum building was laid on October 23, 2008. Due to the previous use as a parking lot, the archaeological investigation of the building site revealed well-preserved remains of the historical building stock from the time of early settlement. A six-storey building was built for five million euros, in which the Sound of Cultures exhibition was opened on the ground and first floors in 2010 . The project was made possible by a donation from the Bassermann Cultural Foundation Mannheim , which made a total of ten million euros available to the museum. The running costs and the exhibition program are also financed with the foundation's capital.

The music history and ethnographic exhibition MusikWelten shows numerous European and non-European musical instruments. Above all, this includes an important collection of old American musical instruments, a foundation by Dieter and Evamaria Freudenberg.

The first floor also houses ZEPHYR - Room for Photography , an exhibition space dedicated to contemporary photography.
