Museum Indonesia

Museum Indonesia is a museum in Jakarta , the capital of Indonesia , dedicated to the anthropology and ethnology of Indonesia.

concept

The museum was designed as an integral part of the entire Taman Mini Indonesia Indah complex. It was designed as a learning center of Indonesian culture and should be one of many stations to learn something about Indonesia. The construction and the inauguration were under the patronage of Mrs. Tien Suharto, the wife of Suharto .

building

The museum was opened in 1975. The museum building itself is based on the traditional Balinese architecture in terms of architecture, building materials as well as the sculptural equipment and the splendor of colors. In the park that surrounds the museum, 26 so-called "pavilions" have been set up. Each of these pavilions, which usually consist of three buildings typical of a region, corresponds to one of the 26 regions that make up the Republic of Indonesia. With the exception of a house from Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, which was dismantled there and rebuilt in Jakarta, all the houses are replicas, in which, however, the original sizes, roof and window shapes, arrangement of the rooms, stairs and ornaments have been taken into account.
