The Museum of Architecture and People's Lives in the Volga Region of Nizhny Novgorod in Semenkovo ​​( Russian Музей архитектуры и быта народов Нижегородского Поволжья , Russia ) is an open-air museum on the outskirts of Nizhny Novgorod , Russia .

The construction of the museum began in 1969 by the regional board of the city then called Gorky . The museum opened on June 3, 1973. The museum shows the rural wooden architecture of the 19th century from the northern areas of the Nizhi Novgorod region. Currently (2013) the museum has 15 buildings: two wooden churches, two large farmhouses, a water mill, a windmill (currently without a wing), several huts and outbuildings and barns. Most of the facades of the houses are decorated with traditional ornaments. The interior of the houses has been restored and furnished with contemporary rural furniture.

The museum organizes historical festivals on traditional holidays.
