The Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life Prelesne ( Ukrainian Музей народної архітектури, побуту та дитячої творчості в селі Прелесне ) is an open-air museum in the Ukrainian village Prelesne in the Donetsk Oblast .

history

The museum goes back to the initiative of the ethnologist and artist Alexander Ivanovich. At the beginning of 1983 he discovered many monuments of folk architecture with students and enthusiasts, moved houses into the museum and collected museum items. He has also collected folk songs and fairy tales. In 1992 the museum received the status of a state museum and became a branch museum of the Donetsk Regional Art Museum.

The museum

The museum consists of a typical 19th century Slobozhanshchina farmhouse with farm buildings, windmill and blacksmith shop. Folklore exhibits from Sloboda-Ukraine are shown in an exhibition hall .

Children's art

A unique selling point is an art exhibition with art by children, which is unique in Ukraine.
