Mushroom jazz
Mushroom Jazz is a music compilation series by Dj Mark Farina that appears at irregular intervals and is mainly known and widespread in the USA. This was created in 1992 in the San Francisco area and was then released on music cassette . In 1996 the series became commercial and Mushroom Jazz: Volume 1 was released on CD and vinyl. The combination of hip-hop , jazz , downtempo and house is characteristic . Likewise, the integration of voice samples from films and sound recordings from the 50s and 60s that fit seamlessly into the mix.
Mark Farina is considered the founder of a new sub-category of electronic music called mushroom jazz.
The Mushroom Jazz parts (Volume 1-6) that have been published to date contain pieces by a wide variety of artists such as Blue Boy, Chali 2na, Deadbeats, People under the Stairs, Colossus, and many more, but also tracks produced by Mark Farina himself. On November 9, 2010, the latest offshoot of the Mushroom Jazz 7 series (MJ7) was released, which was advertised in advance with a large pre-order campaign on Mark Farina's website.
