Mustaphato Salicio was an imaginative engineer with utopian ideas around 1686 .
In 4 copperplate engravings, he published the new and amazing invention of a copper mortar, which allegedly could throw bombs so large through compressed air that 25 soldiers could be hidden in them and thrown into an enemy city or fortress without damage.
