Mutella is a text-based file-sharing program for the peer-to-peer network Gnutella for Unix , developed by Max Zaitsev and Gregory Block.
It has two user interfaces - one for text mode and one for so-called "remote control", which runs on an integrated web server and is used by a web browser . The first official version was published on October 6, 2001.
From version 0.4.1 the Mutella logo was changed to an octopus, before that a blue and black version of the Ouroboros was used.
